Four Injured, Cows Killed As Bus Rams Into Herd In Ekiti

 Accident in ekiti

No fewer than four occupants of a Nissan Mazda commercial bus that rammed into a herd of cows on Efon Alaaye -Esa Oke highway were injured on Monday.

Sources said seven of the cows numbering about 1000 which were moving on the road were killed in the crash.

It was gathered that the accident occurred at a steep portion of the road close to the border between Ekiti and Osun States, as the bus, which was speeding, somersaulted into a ditch due to the impact of the crash.

The source said, “Some deaths could have been recorded but for the men of the Federal Road Safety Corps from Ita-Ore, Efon Alaaye Ekiti, who quickly visited the accident scene. The FRSC men took the four persons that were injured to the hospital for treatment.”

The FRSC Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Command, Mr Mohammed Olowo, confirmed the incident but said only one passenger was injured in the crash.

Olowo said, “It was even a surprise to many people that nobody died owing to the severity of the accident. But seven cows died during the collision.”
